About this tool
The Home Maintenance Calendar is a free tool that turns a short list of questions about your home into a yearly checklist and a calendar file you can use on your phone.
How the schedule is built
The tool starts from about 15 common tasks, such as testing smoke and carbon monoxide alarms, checking HVAC filters, clearing gutters, checking for water leaks, and booking seasonal service. Your answers decide which tasks apply and which months they fall in. For example, a home without a fireplace does not get a chimney inspection, and a warm-climate home gets a different gutter schedule.
Where the tasks come from
Each task lists the references behind it, such as the U.S. Fire Administration, the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the Department of Energy, and the EPA. Where timing varies by product, such as alarm lifespan or inspection steps, the tool tells you to follow the manufacturer's instructions instead of giving a fixed number. Reference links point to the agency sites and may be updated as sources change.
What it does not do
This tool gives general information, not professional advice, and it cannot see your home. It does not replace your product manuals, local code requirements, or a licensed professional. Work involving gas, electrical systems, roofs, and chimneys should be done by a licensed pro.
